Waiting for the Oxygen Installation.

Frustrating times.

We were resorted to the fact that Kirsty would be home on Oxygen. And whilst we were dubious about this we decided that it must be much better than having to visit the ward every day.

And at least Kirsty would be well observed each week.

We had to wait for the Oxygen to be installed. ADVISE make sure that you have registered your baby with your Doctor this IS NOT AUTOMATIC and the installation of Oxygen is done on prescription only.

The Oxygen concentrator machine. We decided to have this in Kirsty's room as it is a bit noisy and Kirsty was used to the noise of the ward. The pipes were clipped to various points through out the house.

This picture is a bit dark but the pipes were neatly clipped to avoid as less clip hole damage as possible.

The company was very nice who installed them and this is where we have to order the spare prongs from.

Oxygen cylinders for going out are from a local chemist that are delivered to your door (well in our area this MAY differ)

Regulator

This is the unit that plugs the prongs into the machine. The small black knob to the right at the bottom adjusts the flow rate to Kirsty.

The prongs are plugged into the top outlet. We have a junction by our bedroom door that we can change for upstairs or downstairs and from the machine to Kirsty's room.

The pipes were clearly marked "up" "Down" etc so we knew which one to plug where.

The installers have a 24 hour line and the callout is good. We had one pipe pop out but this was soon sorted. Don't worry about this as Kirsty is off of Oxygen between rooms and also the time between putting her in the car.

Don't forget Important.

There is a lot to think about when having Oxygen in the home.

The small portable Oxygen unit that can be used when traveling about and going places.

It is heavy but not over heavy and not too big either. It fits okay under one pram but not another.

As Kirsty is only on a small amount this will last about 24hours.
