Are parents with disabled children under the age of 3 being discriminated against?
ANY parent will tell you... having to carry a baby and all the necessary bits and pieces under normal circumstances takes a lot of effort.
But when a child is disabled, or premature and on special cares the need to carry Oxygen Cylinders and also other items for medical care is an absolute nightmare.
MY work is manual and I still struggled to carry Kirsty and one small Oxygen cylinder especially over any distance and this includes from the Hospital Car Park to the Ward.
Formal Complaint to The Department of Transport and MP,s
By the Governments act to refuse help to children under the age of 3 years of age with regards to Blue Badges that,
Children under 3 are being discriminated by the Government under the Disability Discrimination Act 1996.
Under the Human Rights Act 1998 the Government is Discriminating against children under 3 by refusing to issue Blue Badges.
By refusing to issue these badges, children under the age of 3, and their parents cannot.
Park in accessible locations to allow access reasonably required to use a service.
Park in accessible locations when requiring medical treatment.
Use services where they cannot reasonably park and carry items necessary for survival of life.
Indeed even when two parents are together it can be a struggle to carry all the equipment needed. There is NO WAY you can walk with a Oxygen Cylinder or the like for 1/4 of a mile let alone 1/2 a mile.
The law should be changed so that parents who are suffering whilst claiming disability allowance, should be able to utilize the Blue Badge Scheme just as any other Disabled Person Can.
Indeed this is Discrimination against parents with children under 3 who have a disability and need extra care.

I make formal complaint to The Department of Transport, My MP and the British Government that by refusing to issue blue badges (The Disabled Parking Scheme) to parents of Disabled and Children under 3 needing special medical equipment at all times, That the Government and associated bodies are breaking the Human Rights Act and also The Disability Discrimination Act.
And that under these acts a change in the law is needed to comply with the acts. I am being discriminated against because I cannot walk and gain access to services I normally would, due to the necessity of carrying life sustaining equipment.
